Philosophy and approach: I work with individuals, couples, adult families, and groups to identify and remove obstacles to growth. I work with clients weekly toward increasing comfort with the unknown and creating more choice in their lives.
Formal education and training: I have a Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from John F. Kennedy University. My training and ongoing focus is on medium to long-term therapy with individuals, couples, and groups. I participate in continuing education anually and have recently earned a Post-Graduate Certificate in Compassion-Focused Therapy from the University of Derby in the UK.
Rates: The fee for a 50 minute session is $130 (most insurance sessions are limited to 45 minutes by contract). Co-Pays vary for clients using insurance.
EAP: I work with these employee assistance programs: Cigna, Cascade, and Providence. There is no copay / fee associated with EAP; however, a credit card number is still needed in case of no-show or short-notice cancellation, see below.
Insurance: I am in-network with Cigna and BlueCross BlueShield / Regence Oregon. I am happy to provide you with a monthly receipt for you to present to your insurance company in hopes of reimbursement. Medicare & Medicaid do not cover LPC services.
To bill your insurance company directly I will need the following bits of information prior to your first scheduled appointment: your full name, date of birth, address, and the group / individual policy numbers printed on your insurance card (and for the insured if you're covered by a parent or partner).
Payment: A credit/debit/flex spending card number is collected and securely kept on file at the time of scheduling your first appointment. Payment is due at time of service. There is a $50 fee for checks returned due to insufficient funds.
Scheduling: Please arrive on time, as sessions will also end on time. Generally sessions are weekly. On occasion, other arrangements are made. I dedicate a full hour for each session including time for charting & billing. Face-to-time is fifty minutes for cash pay and 45 minute if using insurance.
Cancellation Policy: Please respect the 24 hour cancellation policy. Insurance companies and EAPs do not cover missed appointments. Each client is responsible for the full fee or contracted rate if using insurance (not to be confused with your typical copay) for no-shows and cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice.
How the cancellation policy benefits both therapist and client: Of course it's difficult to pay for a session you did not attend. I get that. And, it's simply not possible for my practice to sustain the loss associated with unpaid sessions. I understand things come up; we all fall ill at times; and, details get forgotten. It's my belief we all benefit from living with integrity and taking responsibility for our agreements and how impact each other with our actions/inactions. Giving ample notice is not only respectful of my time and the commitment we made to our work together; but, it also allows for the possibility of another client to be seen on short notice.
