Psychotherapy with Jenny offered in Oregon & Washington

Collaborating with professionals who struggle with burnout at work or in their relationships to find relief from a harsh inner critic while cultivating their best life. You absolutely can feel less stressed, more confident, and with less effort.

Together we work on issues such as:
Intimacy and relationship concerns — even if your partner won't join
Conscious separation / divorce
Grief and loss
Anxiety, burnout, feeling stuck

           Bring on the joy.

Imagine easy access to a good night's sleep. I can help you quiet the constant chatter of anxiety inside your mind. I help people become more comfortable with the unknown, more comfortable in their own skin, and more fully alive. Our work focuses on the here-and-now of your lived experience — bringing your concerns to life in the therapy session, allowing for deep learning and lasting transformation. Brief therapy focused on solutions to a specific issue is often helpful. You may instead prefer a more in-depth approach — working toward greater self-understanding, living life more fully, and experiencing more joy. I'm active in the local counseling community and stay current in the field. I served as President of the Oregon Mental Health Counselors Association and was a founding board member of Existential-Humanistic Northwest, where I continue as an affiliate. I'm also a member of the Compassionate Mind Foundation — always working to learn and increase my capacity to be helpful.

Philosophy and approach:
I work with individuals, couples, adult families, and groups to identify and remove obstacles to growth. I work with clients weekly toward increasing comfort with the unknown and creating more choice in their lives.

Formal education and training:
I have a Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from John F. Kennedy University. My training and ongoing focus is on medium to long-term therapy with individuals, couples, and groups. I participate in continuing education annually.  In 2020 I earned a Post-Graduate Certificate in Compassion-Focused Therapy from the University of Derby in the UK.

Rates:
The fee for a 45-55 minute session is $250.

Insurance:
It is with intention and care that I choose to not accept most insurance plans. Insurance points the focus on diagnosis and functional impairment. In other words, insurance requires an emphasis on what is wrong. I prefer to focus on healing and growth while building on what is already working well. That being said, I am able to provide a monthly invoice (superbill) for you to provide to your insurance in hopes of reimbursement. I am in network with Providence for commercial plans (through 2026). Please be aware billing insurance requires a mental health diagnosis and may become a part of your permanent medical record.

Payment:
A credit/debit/flex spending card number is collected and securely kept on file at the time of scheduling your first appointment.
Payment is due at time of service.

Scheduling:
Please arrive on time, as sessions will also end on time.
Generally sessions are weekly.  On occasion, other arrangements are made. I dedicate a full hour for each session including time for charting & billing. Face-to-time is approximately fifty minutes.

Cancellation Policy:
Please respect the 24 hour cancellation policy.
Insurance companies and EAPs do not cover missed appointments. Each client is responsible for the full fee or contracted rate if using insurance (not to be confused with your typical copay) for no-shows and cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice.

How the cancellation policy benefits both therapist and client:
Of course it's difficult to pay for a session you did not attend. I get that. And, it's simply not possible for my practice to sustain the loss associated with unpaid sessions. I understand things come up; we all fall ill at times; and, details get forgotten. It's my belief we all benefit from living with integrity and taking responsibility for our agreements and how we impact each other with our actions/inactions.  Giving ample notice is not only respectful of my time and the commitment we made to our work together; but, it also allows for the possibility of another client to be seen on short notice.
